Help the people of Kemoto

Skjermbilde 2026-02-06 105519_edited.jpg

In a small village in Gambia you will find some of the nicest people in the world. These people live a hard life. They are mainly self-sufficient with both food and drink. Fish from the Gambia River and vegetables from the fields run by the inhabitants.

Everyday life is largely characterized by hard work to get food and drink on the table. I want to raise money to help these wonderful people. There is a dire need for a better solution for drinking water, repair of the roof at the elementary school, various teaching materials, solar cells and electronics to operate the water pump as well as various electronics for the population. 100% of all donations will go directly to Kemoto.

For drinking water, they currently have a well that is a bit too small. They lack a well-functioning water pump to pump the water up into a tower. As well as pipe systems to transport the water closer to the village.

There is also a primary school shared between several villages.
But the school is missing the middle part of the roof. So every time it rains, the students will get wet. The roof therefore needs to be patched. At the same time, the students are lacking various equipment.

You are most welcome to donate money and/or equipment. At the same time, you are also most welcome to come down and help us build this.

Drinking water

A new water pump and solar cell system to power this have been purchased.
This will be installed by Seil med Larsen in the winter of 2025/2026.

The current well is 4" and somewhat shallow. This works well during the rainy season but gets a very low water level during the dry season. It is therefore desirable to drill a deeper 6" well to ensure the availability of drinking water all year round.

We hope to raise enough capital to complete the construction of a larger and deeper well. This is an expensive job and is estimated to cost between 150,000 and 200,000 NOK. We are eternally grateful for all donations and help we can get to make this happen.

Access to clean drinking water is something many of us in the West take for granted. But this is a life-threatening problem in many parts of the world. Let's make a difference together.

The School in Kemoto

This is an small school in Kemoto.
The school is very primitive but does the job. Alot of pupils goes to the bigger cities after this, but some goes to help at the farms and houses.
The school misses desks and chairs for all the people, so sometimes they have to sit at the floor. The money went out during construction, therefore they could not finnish the roof on the school. There is an hole in the top of the roof all along the school. Therefore every time it rains it will get wet in the middle of the building. All the kids have to go towards the wall not to get soaked.

We wish to complete the work on the roof, so they can use the whole classroom without getting wet.

Helse senter

Befolkningen startet byggingen av et helsesenter i 2024. Men økonomien tok desverre slutt.

Demning for risåker
